Some of the issues that can be resolved through couples or marital therapy are: communication difficulties, loss of loving feelings, mismatched levels of expectation, a mutual and overall vision and goals for the relationship.

Helping disengaged partners to address their difficulties in a manner that can minimize distrust and promote problem-solving is one of the primary goals for couples counseling and marital therapy.

It is important that a couple can find a safe and neutral place discuss issues without the defensiveness and blame which usually characterizes couples or marital discord.

Marital therapy is most often conducted on a weekly basis, and oftentimes each partner is seen individually, as well as a couple.

Realistically ... significant and lasting change can oftentimes be seen after eight to twelve sessions.
